HAVING A SECURE HOME
“The UK is a “high crime country” with a very high risk
of common crime, a European Union (EU) survey suggests. The European Crime
and Safety Survey said the UK had the highest levels of assaults without force
and of burglary”*. Burglary levels in the UK are slowly going down, but
you are still more likely to be a victim of burglary here than in most of Europe.
A recent poll of burglars stated that the reduction in burglary is for the
most part due to better security in homes; sadly this means that if your home
is not well secured your chances of being burgled are increased. Below are
a few simple tips to help ensure that opportunist burglars leave you alone
and search for softer targets.
- Fitting a MonitoredHaus Security & Care
system is one of the best starts you can make; electronic security is one
of the most successful
means of burglary deterrent.
- Open windows and doors are an invitation
for the opportunist burglar, and badly maintained or rotting windows and
doors
will not slow them down much
either. Windows and doors should be fitted with good quality locks and the
keys kept away from the lock and out of sight.
- Neighbourhoods and close communities are a
powerful weapon when it comes to deterring the burglar. Join or start a
neighbourhood
watch program,
the police will always respond on a call from a member of the public and
the burglar knows this.
- All MonitoredHaus Security & Care systems
are certificated by the SSAIB, with this certificate you can receive discounts
from your insurer
off of your home content premium.

- Tailored Key/Careholder response
Each MONITOREDHAUS Security & Care System is connected
to the monitoring station via your telephone line. In the case of activation
the monitoring service
contacts your home; this is to ascertain whether the system has been accidentally
activated. If your phone is not answered in the correct manner, or they have
cause for concern regarding your safety, Keyholders or Careholders will be
contacted.
The technology used in our system enables the monitoring station to differentiate
between the types of activation, so a simple radio linked neck pendant turns
the MONITOREDHAUS Security System into a Care Alarm. By pressing the buttons
on your neck pendant, the Monitoring Centre will respond in seconds ascertaining
your condition and if need be will contact your Careholders and if given permission
your Doctors Surgery. The pendant will work anywhere up to 100 metres from
the main control box, so whether you are in the garden or anywhere within the
property, you can have it with you at all times.
Optional system Extras
The MonitoredHaus Security & Care
System is capable of supporting a variety of additional sensors which can
be either ordered at the time of sale of purchased from the installer on
the day of installation.
The
system can be fitted with photoelectrical Wire Free Smoke
Detectors that will activate the alarm system whether it
is set or not, once activated the alarm will contact the monitoring station
with a separate and definable signal so that the appropriate action can be
taken.
Wire
Free Flood Detectors are designed
to detect flooding from burst or leaking pipes, they are generally be fitted
behind water using services such as washing machines or immersion heaters;
the alarm will be activated whether it is set or not as soon as water reaches
the sensor. Again this will notify the monitoring station to ensure that
action is being taken.
With
the simple addition of an Care activation pendant your security system becomes
a Care system; if the button on the pendant is pushed the alarm will immediately
be activated sending a care signal to the monitoring centre whether the system
is set or un-set. The monitoring station will contact you, your careholders,
your Keyholders or in some circumstances your doctor. This facility is especially
useful for elderly or infirm persons at home alone.
